The Highlight of the Mouans-Sartoux Market is the Confiture Shop that is Sure to Tickle Your Tastebuds

It is very likely that - when you are out on a stroll or on your way to another destination - you will encounter another gem of a location that piques your interest. In 2021, Makenna and Chris were out and about when they discovered the confiture shop at the weekly market in Mouans-Sartoux, a proudly French residential village in southeastern France that is known for the quality of life of its inhabitants. A treat on its very own, this commune offers multiple tourist attractions. But its market? Has an adorable lady making jam in it.

One of our team’s favorite stops when at the market happens to be a particularly wonderful confiture - or jam - shop. “We strolled in and found one lovely French woman giving strong adorable Grandma vibes making jam,” exclaims Chris. “It was the salve we didn’t know our souls needed at the time.” It was still a very strange and distant phase of the pandemic, so finding a cute grandma making jam was a beautiful highlight.

This wonderful woman’s name? Ariane Magimel, a flavor aficionado in the region. Using only high-quality ingredients sourced from suppliers who uphold high standards, she has mastered some of the most delightful edible gorgeousness this side of the Atlantic. (And beyond!)

Magimel heats her carefully crafted jams over a flame in giant cauldrons, small batch goodness that is felt with every single bite.

She offers an array of delectables in her storefront. Mango and fig chutneys, pear jelly with a hint of divine rosemary, and what seems to be countless flavors of natural honey. (The lavender honey is a personal favorite that is absolutely perfect on morning breads and with afternoon tea!) Not to mention the endless selection of jams made from what seems to be every fruit imaginable.

Do you have a sweet tooth that likes to indulge in chocolate? Chocolate-covered raspberries, chocolate bitter oranges, and pears belle helene are included in her flavorful options. If you are into more savory options, she also has jars of onions in white wine which add such depth to the flavor of your dishes.

But, without a doubt, we absolutely recommend getting your hands on a few jars of her storied jams. Many of our guests end up procuring flavored honey and jams as gifts for their friends and family when they return home. We like to keep them on hand for slow days where we can enjoy an oversized board of cheeses, meats, fruits, and spreads over a span of hours on the patio. These jams are equally enjoyable on toasted lunch sandwiches as they are with baked brie, on your morning bagel or toast, or spread across a juicy ham.

And perhaps that’s one of the reasons we love Ariane Magimel and her delectables so much. She has put her heart and soul into these recipes that have delighted the French countryside for years. All of her items are so versatile and perfect for hosting. You can enjoy them singularly, or spread them around and across your favorite dishes.

There are so many ways to use her products to improve your day, every single day.
