Auberge de Provence: Serving Up Provencal Delicacies and Views Down The Road From La Pitchoune

Auberge de Provence is an absolute delight of a stop off when you happen to be in the area visiting. “Auberge” - for those who do not know - is essentially a French term for “Inn.” Some such named inns even still offer rooms for the night, though many have been converted into eateries, spas, and other experiences. This one, much to our chagrin, does not offer room and board, but it continues to retain a quaintness that is becoming more and more difficult to find in this area as it continues to expand.

Only a few minutes’ drive from the property, Auberge de Provence is a quaint eatery that rests next to the old village area of Plascassier. The team there serves up classic gourmet dishes from the area: Socca (a chickpea pancake), Aioli (local fish preparation with vegetables and a garlic mayo), and several others. Plus, they have wine pairings that take all of their meal offerings to the next level.

We always get the fixed menu, which comes with a big appetizer assortment of local delicacies, a main dish of your choosing, and a dessert. It’s the best way to immerse yourself in the “hits” of the local cuisine. Plus, their dessert list is absolutely to die for, and includes Chèvres à l'huile, Tourte de blettes, Tarte Valbonnaise "Camprini", and a gorgeous chocolate mousse, among other options.

The owners of the restaurant are super lovely and always have been. We are not entirely sure, but they may live above the restaurant. The idea that they live there is so beautiful that we have never actually asked them. Why ruin the magic of it, you know? The interior is light and inviting for days when you want to dine inside, but that patio is going to provide some stunning views if you choose to brave a breeze or two. Best of all, you can actually see La Peetch and Bramafam from the restaurant, as it faces the valley that houses La Peetch. (We told you it was insanely close!)
